Pickleball is new in CineSportCam 2.0, and its scoring confuses more first-time scorers than any other sport in the app. Here is the short version, and how the app takes the hard part off your hands.

Two ways to score

Side-out scoring

  • Only the serving side can score a point
  • Lose the rally as the server and the serve passes over instead
  • In doubles, each side gets two servers before a side out
  • The traditional way, and the way most tournaments play

Rally scoring

  • Every rally scores a point for whoever wins it
  • Faster games, easier to follow from the stands
  • Common in rec leagues

Scoring a game in CineSportCam

  1. Pick Pickleball and the format

Choose side-out or rally, singles or doubles, and whether games go to 11, 15, or 21. The scoreboard adapts.

  2. Tap the winning side

In rally scoring, every tap is a point. In side-out scoring, the app only awards the point if the serving side won. If the receiving side won, tap Side Out and the serve passes.

  3. Let the app rotate the server

In doubles side-out, the server number advances automatically. You never have to remember whether it is the first or second server.

Hand the remote scorer to a parent who plays. They will enjoy it more than the person holding the camera.
