The 50 subscriber wall
YouTube won't let your phone go live. Ours will.
You set up the channel. You waited the 24 hours. You hit Go Live and YouTube told you that you need 50 subscribers first.
That rule is real, and it only applies to YouTube's own app.
Why this happens
The limit is on the app, not on you.
YouTube requires 50 subscribers before a channel can go live from the mobile app. Under 1,000 subscribers it may also cap how many people can watch and make the recording private once the game ends.
Streaming over RTMP has no subscriber requirement at all. That is the workaround people will tell you about, right before telling you to install an encoder, paste a stream key, buy a power bank and watch a tutorial.
Youtube seems legit, but it requires 50 subscribers if I want to use a phone. Then I see others say you don't need 50 subscribers, just embed an RTMP code. OK but despite looking up what RTMP is, I am still at a loss.
What we do about it
CineSportCam streams by RTMP. You will never see the word.
-
The free tier streams to YouTube at 720p.
No subscriber count, no trial to start, nothing to buy.
-
You sign in once, inside the app.
We hold the stream key, pick the bitrate, and reconnect when the gym Wi-Fi drops. You will never paste anything.
-
A network check before you go live.
It measures your actual upload at the field and picks a bitrate that holds, instead of finding out at kickoff.
-
A real scoreboard on the broadcast.
Sport-aware, with the rules built in, and composited onto the local recording too, so the file you keep looks like the game you streamed.
-
Twitch instead, if you prefer.
No activation wait there at all. Or Facebook, or your league’s own RTMP server, or several at once.
-
Nothing to carry.
No laptop, no encoder, no capture card, no HDMI cable taped to a fence. An iPhone 12 or newer, or an iPad.
Prices are the ones each company publishes, checked 2026-09-18.
